Memories from my childhood

Marigolds and Alyssum are the flowers from my childhood.  The path along the back of our house was always bordered with these lovelies.  Because of their dense clusters, they just happened to be the perfect place for toads and frogs to hideout.  I remember many summer days spent searching with my sister for toads in the Marigolds and Alyssum.  Their scent always transports me back to those summer days of long ago.  Introducing "Miss Mari".

Just Another Pattern Sunday....

The weather today was a bit wet, cold and gloomy, but I enjoyed paging through my sketchbook for some design inspiration.  I love it when I can pull images from different pages and combine them into a fun collection.  My sweet girly Ruby was right beside me working away on her drawings too.  We had a fun, creative day and made some pretty patterns.  Introducing....Juniper.  I really love the playful patterns and color palette of this collection.  Oh Happy Day!  Wishing everyone a great week!  xo

It's a "Sunny Day" with my girl!

Introducing the first pattern collection with my girl Ruby!  We each contributed 3 designs to this collection, and Ruby chose the name "Sunny Day".  Doesn't this just brighten your day?!  My heart is bursting with joy!!  I can't wait to develop more collections with my sweet girly!!  Love her to the sun and back!!! xo

Feeling joyful

Autumn's Joy is a collection I started over a year ago.  I loved the motifs, but struggled with the colors.  I decided to put it on the back burner and return to it with fresh eyes at a later date.  This week I returned to the collection and added some additional patterns.  I played around with a lighter color palette and fell in love with the results.  I hope you like how it turned out as much as I do!

Refreshed and Refocused

Inspiration leads to design for me.  So, I have been taking this summer to refresh and refocus.  Many hours have been spent walking through gardens, forests, sandy beaches, and my own backyard just observing the flowers, leaves, bugs, and critters around me.  I have really enjoyed watching my children discover new things in old places.  Nature always inspires me.  I naturally look for patterns and designs in everything I see. Organic shapes and patterns seem to jump out of the woodwork...literally at times.  I have been sketching like crazy, and tonight I sat down at my computer for the first time in over 2 months.  It felt so good to create again.  I felt inspired...and this is what I designed.
