Because it is -25 degrees outside...

with a windchill of -50, and my car won't start, and I don't want to freeze my face off, and I am still in my PJ's, and I LOVE to design pretty patterns.

I have been in full on Christmas mode lately and have had no time to draw or design.  So, I decided to take some time today...after making gingerbread houses with the kids...to sit down and get my design mojo on. My son Gabe even named this collection for me.  I think he picked the perfect name!  Hope this collection brings you a bit of warmth on this wintry day.

I would also like to thank all of my wonderful followers for their support this year!  It is truly my passion to design beautiful patterns that will bring a smile to people everywhere!  May the joy and peace of Christmas surround you and your family!

Merry Christmas!!

Christmas Star

Introducing my newest collection "Christmas Star". This collection of patterns was inspired by the lovely poinsettia flower.  I decided to use a pretty traditional Christmas palette to compliment this grouping of patterns.  The large Poinsettia pattern specifically reminds me of family Christmas gatherings spent at my grandparents house as a child.  I really love bringing a piece of my childhood into my designs.  Hope you love it!

In the year 2017...

Recently, I have seen so many beautiful calendars that are coming out for 2017.  That inspired me to look through my portfolio and create a calendar of my own.  Instead of focusing on one collection of patterns for the entire year, I decided to use designs that best fit each month. I really like the way it turned out, and I hope you do too!

Lounge Lizard on Lampshades = LOVE

Having some fun tonight mocking up these FAB retro lampshades.  I just adore vintage lampshades, so just had to see what my Lounge Lizard collection would look like mocked up.  I LOVE THEM!!!  I would LOVE any one of these...or all...in my home!!  How about you?  Do you have a favorite?  It would really be difficult for me to choose just one.  :)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

I am so EXCITED to introduce my second collection with Benartex!  This is Merry Little Christmas!  I think I am FINALLY in the Christmas mood!  You can view the entire collection HERE.  I am so thrilled with how the collection turned out and I hope you love it too!

Without Further Ado...I Introduce Carmela

Carmela has bold blooms and dainty flowers in a gorgeous autumn palette.  I was inspired by the lovely fall colors and harvest sky.  This collection seems perfect to set the mood for a cozy fall evening cuddled up in bed.

Winter Wonderland

I can hardly believe that Christmas is just over 2 months away.  Target is already putting out their Christmas lights!  The weather was in the balmy 60's this weekend and many of our trees are still holding onto their leaves.  Regardless, I am trying to focus on some "WINTER" themed patterns.  This "cool"collection was inspired by a cardinal design I did many years ago.  I decided to use that as a jumping off point, and then I started thinking wintery thoughts.  I redesigned my old illustration...giving it a fresh new look.  Then I added the rest of the complimentary patterns.   I definitely think this collection feels like a Winter Wonderland.  My kids love it...and are already talking about winter outdoor activities...and CHRISTMAS. So...here is to the first snowflake!  (Did I just type that?)

Easing my way into colder weather with a snowdrop...

Well...with today's temps in the 40s, a bitter wind, and overcast skies, I suppose I need to accept that winter is fast approaching.  EEK...that four letter word "SNOW" just popped into my head.  Nope...not ready for that!  At this point I am just trying to trick myself into accepting the inevitable.  And, since I draw so much inspiration from nature, the SNOWdrop flower just naturally came to mind. It was really just my override feature kicking into gear!  :)  Fortunately, I really was inspired to create this lovely collection that I named Fiona.  I thought a cool (winter) palette would really make this collection come to life. At least I am trying to accept the change of seasons. Happy Saturday everyone!  :)

So much better than a brown paper bag!!!

Oh gosh...do you remember using an old brown paper grocery bag to cover your 5 lb math book?  I sure do!  I also remember making sure it didn't look like a brown paper bag.  I would spend hours decorating and drawing all over it to make it pretty.  WELL...take a peek at this!!  I was so excited to learn about this wonderfully fun project!

Wendy Sheppard from Ivory Spring recently shared a tutorial for creating a book cover using my Lemon Squeezy fabric collection for Benartex.  Her tutorial was featured on their blog sewinlovewithfabric.blogspot.com. Click on the link to view her fabulous step by step instructions.  Also, make sure to visit Wendy's blog to view some of her beautiful quilts.  Hope you enjoy this sweet little project.

In a Daze these Days....

I am having a difficult time leaving summer behind. My daisies have all withered and I am longing for warm summer days again.  Even though I do love mums in the fall...I am in a Daisy Daze.  At least that inspired my newest collection!  Hope you enjoy this last bit of summer love!

Have a seat...

I am having some fun with mock-ups today.  It is always so thrilling to see my designs come to life!  The possibilities are endless with surface and pattern design!  It is my happy place...my sweet spot!! Creating beautiful patterns that will be enjoyed by other people brings me so much joy!  This simple clean pattern adds some playfulness to this basic chair...don't you think?  I LOVE IT!

Southwest Sunshine

Isn't this adorable?!  I absolutely love this collection for a child's room.  Such fun and bright colors make a very cheery room.  I know my little cowgirl would really enjoy this collection in her room!  Goodness knows she has more than enough horsey stuffed animals and cowgirl doodads to compliment this theme! Enjoy y'all!

Just in time for fall...Introducing "Dorset"

Elegant and sophisticated with a palette of fall colors.  This collection evolved from a single flower.  The big bloom top and center came from a sketch I did in an old book and from there "Dorset" emerged. Below are the sketches that inspired this collection.

Catch of the Day

This modern and funky collection has been a work in progress for over a month.  My summer has been jam packed with wonderful outdoor family adventures and travels, but I finally found some time to sit down at my computer and compile this fun group of patterns into a collection. My love of EVERYTHING Mid-Century Modern really inspired the palette and playful shapes and motifs in my newest collection "Catch of the Day".  Being a Minnesota girl that loves LAKE TIME and FISHING also played BIG TIME into this collection.  Hope you enjoy my BIG "Catch of the Day".

Spoonflower Bucketfeet Oceans Design Challenge

This week, Spoonflower has partnered with Bucketfeet for a fun ocean-themed challenge.  The purpose of this challenge is to raise awareness about environmental issues and the impact of rising sea levels on ocean health for World Ocean Day on June 8.  The lucky winner will have their design featured on a Bucketfeet shoe in this summer's collection release.

I decided to take a chance and throw my design into the ring.  I haven't had much time to take part in many Spoonflower challenges lately, but this one really sparked my interest.  I really love Bucketfeet shoes, and I feel very strongly that we need to do everything we can to protect our beautiful oceans.

Voting on will open on May 19th and go through May 25th.  I will post a link to the voting page as soon as it is live.  I would really appreciate your vote for my design.  Thank you for your support! xx

The sweet smell of rain

Spring is in the air!  I absolutely LOVE this time of year when new life is abounding. Gentle rains give way to rolling thunderstorms.  The brown landscape is once again flourishing with lush greens and delicate flowers.  The sweet smell of rain and earth fills the air.  YES...I LOVE THE SPRING!  My newest collection "Showers of Flowers" was inspired by the beautiful spring.  I hope this collection brings a smile to your face!

Playtime

I have been away from designing for a little over 2 weeks now due to some computer difficulties.  Thankfully my troubles have been resolved and I am back in business.  But, I am actually feeling a bit tired tonight and decided to ease into things with some mock-up play.  I find it very gratifying playing with my patterns in mock-ups.  It opens up endless possibilities.  My hope is that my designs will truly bring other people joy by beautifying everyday items.
